Two Ukrainian students receive prestigious SPIE Optics and Photonics Education Scholarships

Two students from Ukraine have been awarded the 2026 SPIE Optics and Photonics Education Scholarship, one of the world’s most prestigious scholarship programs supporting outstanding students in optics and photonics.

Each year, SPIE selects a limited number of students worldwide based on their academic achievements, research excellence, leadership, outreach activities, and contributions to the optics and photonics community. This year, only 85 recipients from around the world received the award.

The two Ukrainian recipients are:

  • Artem Hrinchenko, PhD student at V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University;
  • Oksana Mankovska, third-year Bachelor’s student at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.

The Ukrainian Optical and Photonic Society congratulates Artem and Oksana on this outstanding international recognition and wishes them further success in their research careers. Their achievements highlight the high quality of Ukrainian photonics-related education and research, demonstrating that Ukrainian students remain competitive at the global level despite the challenges facing the country.
