Meeting with Kharkiv National University student chapter in optics and photonics

On December 18 2025, the Ukrainian Optical and Photonic Society held a meeting with the “Karazin Photonics” student union, which combines Optica and SPIE student chapters of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University.

During the meeting, we reviewed its achievements over the past five years, including a number of events, outreach activities, and members’ career progress. To acknowledge the role of student chapters in strengthening and promoting optics and photonics in Ukraine, the Society established a new student distinction: Distinguished Service Award, honoring outstanding service to a student chapter. Based on Karazin Photonics’ contributions, three students were selected as the first awardees: Liliia Manchenko, Anastasiia Guzenko, and Artem Hrinchenko.
